Dicyrtomina saundersi, information

Dicyrtomina saundersi

Class: COLLEMBOLA Lubbock, 1870
Order: SYMPHYPLEONA Börner, 1901
Family: Dicyrtomidae Börner, 1906
Species: Dicyrtomina saundersi (Lubbock, 1862) Moderately common.

This species is in each case here in Drenthe one of the common species. The colours are generally somewhat sharper than on ornata, I find them something nicer in colouration. On the back are often light spots on both sides, that seem to shine through the skin. The male have dark spots on the cheeks, they are missing at the female. As well as ornata you see these animals from October to April.
Species that can be confused with it are: Dicyrtomina ornata and Dicyrtomina minuta.
